Today, both those cities are bustling from their relative pasts. Meantime, the United States and Mexico have frittered away their integrity. Now, at least one Irishman, maybe the last of the Saint Patricios.. is attempting to do the impossible.
Michael Patrick Murphy is rounding up the disenfranchised of The United States and Mexico and offering them new hope. With the backing of ethical investors, he plans on someday purchasing these two beautiful cities and the land between them from their parent countries to form a more perfect state which he calls "Cabo Diego." You are at this new country's website. This is not a fictitious place. It became real the moment you came to this web address which marks it's thoughtful birth. Until it exists beyond this virtual reality, the name "Cabo Diego" will now mean something to everyone who's heard of it.
Cabo Diego will represent the ideals put forth by the founding fathers of the United States Constitution - only better. It will start with equal rights under the law for women and minorities. It will allow any portion of the country the right to secession in the event they don't want to play any more. Cabo Diego will be unencumbered by the blood stained mistakes of both Mexico and the United States' pasts. Thomas Paine, author of Common Sense and other revolutionary writings prior to the American Revolution, would not sign the Constitution of the United States because it didn't allow blacks and women equal rights under the law. I think he would be proud to sign Cabo Diego's new constitution.
In Cabo Diego, all men are created as unique individuals. Individual freedom will be emphasized while the wasteful and restrictive policies of Cabo Diego's neighbors produced in the new Socialist United States and Mexico will be abandoned. Think about it. It's not so much that the old USSR became more like the United States as the fact that the United States became more like the USSR All of the traits Americans used to assign to the Soviet Union have come into law here in the Untied States in one form or another and to some degree.
Cabo Diego will be a long awaited home for those wishing to climb to a more Laisez Faire Free Trade state being tested for the first time. And like a lithe organization, it's government will move quickly to allow its citizens life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Starting with an all in one yearly flat tax system which improves upon the flat sales tax system proven so effective in Hong Kong and ending in a state that respects the individual as much as it does the society as a whole. No longer will freedom loving individuals have to travel so far from their homelands to escape the tyranny and lack of ethics of their governments and the apathy of the people around them.
Soon, you will be able to list yourself as a supporter of this concept as this brand new Country develops. There will be new homes and communities which due to the rapid influx of wealth, will have all the latest and greatest amenities. Residents of such a place should find low levels of red tape and government bureaucracy. Such freedoms will require a non-apathetic group of frontiersmen to bring these wonderful changes to fruition. These pioneers live among us today. Seek them out! Dare to discuss Cabo Diego with them. Perhaps someday Cabo Diego will be your new home or at least a place you'd love to visit.
